Pyramids of Giza

I have never beheld them with my own two eyes, but I have the imagination to see in my mind's eye what spectacular image they would make, the lovely and the majestic, the imposing and the gargantuan pyramids of Giza, near Cairo, in Egypt. I have tales of the million tourists and the crowds yet I want to go there and touch the gods.

To us the pyramids are the only standing wonder of the famed 7 wonders of the ancient world, they are a marvel indeed but do we really try and understand the mysteries wrapped up behind them? The pyramids are traditionally timed at around 2500 BC, which makes make around 5000 years old, there are now theories that suggest that they are pre-biblical deluge of Noah so dating around 12,000 to 10,000 BC, which is not only ancient but prehistoric. How did the people who had yet not seen the wheel able to create huge edifices hauling up stones blocks weighing tons and that too from far away? There are many theories of how they came to be built, and more and more people now favor the Atlantean theory, that somehow, a higher race, a purer and scientifically advanced people came from, anyone's guess could be outer space or Atlantis, people who held the secrets of arithmetic and geometry yet to be discovered in the world, and had strength of giants, it is they who built the Pyramids, but for what purpose? that is another enigma.

They are said to be tombs, and yet not one sarcophagus or mummy have been found in them. Some scholars believe that they were actually celestial observatories, or a kind of middle place between this and the spiritual world. Originally, the pyramids were covered with glistening limestone which would shine brightly in the desert sunshine while the top was covered in a sheet of gold. Some say that somewhere in the Pyramids are hidden all the knowledge of this universe, that they are a kind of treasure trove but covered by a maze which no one can decipher. We know so much about the Egyptian world, and yet we know so little about the pyramids.

They are located exactly at a certain distance from the north pole which is exact half of the distance to the equator! How did the ancients know that? when they didn't even know the earth was round or flat! And in 12000 BC they coordinated with what was the north pole at that time (it has shifted over the years and would continue to do so) and hence was like the meridian line dividing the earth in two! there are apertures in the pryamids which correspond to the viewing of certain stars such as the Orion on certain days of the month, so did they act as a celestial calendar? or a launching pad to some inter--galactic journey? I don't know, yet I am fascinated.
