Do we ever? I mean EVER...THINK?

is thinking not part of our DNA? are we, the great people of this mighty country somehow by a genetic quirk not akin and given to thought and deliberation? Why are we, as men and women, so averse to using our brains? why are we so dependent on other 'intelligent' and well read people to guide us, to show us the path be it religious or otherwise. Why are we always waiting to be told to do this or that? Has years of white man's domination played havoc with our gene code and made us less self-sufficient as far as our ideas and thoughts are concerned?

We don't use our minds, the way we ought to, or rather we don't try and work on bettering our ways of thinking, our outlook on life, getting to know our own self and how we behave, wanting to improve oneself. No such endeavour is ours ever, it just isn't important to us. It just doesn't figure in our scheme of things to give time and thought to one's own way of thinking, one's value system, whether one thinks right or not, or whether what we take as providential truth have any basis or not?

I move around educated people, of course, being 'educated' myself. But, it makes me wonder, how little time and effort we devote to our own actions, and thinking, and ways of doing things. We assume that we are right in whatever we are thinking, it hardly ever crosses our minds to retreat, to step back and see and accept that the way in which we look at a thing or a situation might just not be the only one or necessarily the right one! For such lofty thoughts, lofty confidence is required, and that is something we lack in the depths of our being.

The boldest and most assured amongst us are rifled with doubts, we are unsure of ourselves and our surroundings, behind a façade of assurance and verve we harbor doubts, insecurities, fear simply because we don a veneer of a persona that may or may not be truly reflective of who we are.

My argument is - why are we so averse to analysing our own selves, we indulge in ripping others apart, we love to discuss others to a point of no return, but remain oblivious to our own character. When will we have enough sense to look at our own selves?
