Is this country for real? I'm so upset!
There is no sugar and no atta to be had. The television screens are blazing with the images of throngs of people hanging and pressed to the bone by the crowd behind them on the grill doors of utility stores across the country, for a kilo of sugar or atta. There is darkness as far as the eyes can see what with no bijli in the drooping power lines, the petrol prices are going to be raised by 5 rupees, the state machinery is asleep, the police corp fat and stagnant, the maulivs stuffed with iftari, and the people parched with thirst, hungry for atta, and searching for deliverance.
But, hey, we have mobile fone mania, the mantra being that whether you can eat or not you must be connected at all times, we have tv channels copying indian shows and we have tv hosts from the depths of hades themselves, we have overdressed self-satisfied smug women and we have balding lecherous men with black,from Cleopatra's own kohl collection, died hair, we have men wearing toupees that look like old dusters and we have fake bag galore permanently crippling the arms of our women. So, if we seriously look at it we are alright, what if we don't think, we talk to our hearts content! what if we don't see, we want to be seen!, and what if we don't hear, what did u say?
We have designer suited President with a joker la batman smile on his face and we have a home minister who looks like a golliwog, and behaves like one, we have a prime minister who doesn't know what he's doing, but at the last minute gets instant revelation on doing things he was supposed to do weeks back, and we have shiploads of ministers who do exactly what?, listen to this, we even have "assistant ministers (no kidding) to do what again exactly? and we have adviser's to the ministers and advisers to adivsers on everything, so realllly we have nothing to worry about.
When we have been placed in this worthy place by the good lord himself why should we worry our sweet heads about anything indeed!
