The War of the Titans

A few days back our illustrious leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali held a press conference and lashed out at Imran Khan, he accused the leader of Paksitan Tehrik-e-Insaf for libelling others while he had misappropriated funds of Shaukat Khanum Hospital. Talk about the kettle calling the pot black! I am told again and again that we are living in high age of democracy hence it is our constitutional right to express our opinion which is all great, but when that opinion is based on malafide intentions, when the information is not based on facts and is mainly to injure the reputation of another the act crosses the boundary of acceptable and legal civil discourse and becomes actionable under the law.

I am no great supporter of Imran Khan, but one needs to give credit where its due, he has done miraculously well in running the Cancer hospital in a country like ours where behind most trust and charitable organizations there are embezzling goons. It is the largest charitable cancer hospital in the world, and gets funding regularly from mainly overseas Pakistanis who have faith in Imran using their money wisely. As expounded by Imran himself in a following press conference most of the funds for the hospital are collected during Ramazan and the whole idea behind the move of Chaudhy Nisar was to put a dent in the fund collection of the hospital as they did in 97.

This is beyond pathetic and beyond politics. To accuse Imran of benefiting personally in a financial manner from the hospital without any concrete evidence is hitting below the belt. Besides, it doesn't achieve its intended target, Chaudhry Nisar has come out the loser in this whole battle for it became obvious after a while that N League is desperate and scared of Imran making a serious dent in their vote bank.

I say Kudos to Imran for standing up to these thieves and dacoits who have looted the nation in broad daylight and are now accusing the very few people who have brought a good name to this maligned country. Imran is hardly rich and we all know that, he has never been in power so his chances of looting the government coffers are next to zilch, he isn't sitting on millions of pounds in accounts splattered in UK banks and does not own property in London which according to the opposition leader of this very poor country 'is no big deal to own'?? Oh really? 90% or more Pakistanis can't bloody well buy themselves a decent meal Mister, and you are saying flats in London are easy to come by? well certainly for the likes of you, with the money of the likes of us! So bugger off and stop talking rubbish.

As election time is approaching, our time worn and corrupt politicos are getting all nervous and edgy, they know that for once the people of this country are seriously fed up with rising costs and no end to their daily problems such as load shedding and higher prices of fuel, they want answers and the only way to answers they think is through radical change.

So move over Mr. Nisar and Co, Imran Khan is here!
