Isn't it fantastic? to be sitting here, millions of miles away feasting our eyes on the Martian landscape? Who would have thought it possible a few decades back that man would put a machine on Mars which would be able to bring back valuable pictures and information about the red planet. There is something about Mars that is beguiling not only to astronomers and scientists but also to the general public. It could possibly the recurrent role of Mars as the planet of War in Greek myths, it could possibly be the identification of the crass and rough planet with the masculine gender, it could be the fact that for years it has been thought that at one time life did exist on Mars and there could be iced polar caps even now hidden under the rough terrain. Whatever it is Mars has our hearts riveted on it. Can you imagine how wonderfully magical it would be to be on that rover and actually see and feel for ourselves the beauty of Mars, yes, it is beautiful, as the pictures tell us just as a desert is beautiful and enigmatic. What totally impresses me is the suggestions of deep silence, of serenity, of peacefulness, it has to be so for it doesn't have a dense atmosphere. I want to go to Mars and look down or up at the Earth.
