Pakistani's have a typical way of talking like any other people. Since, we are the progeny of colonialism we traverse and slide our way through two cultures and two languages, and this gives rise to a language which is predominantly either of the two but peppered heavily with the other and some of the weird sentences or expressions that are born are really thought provoking. Walking quietly in the park I get an opportunity to listen in to people's conversations (for Pakistanis don't really like to be quite and connect to nature!) it is an hotbed of thriving discussions between men and women who are normally out of breath but not out of words! These are some of the jewels I get to hear:
-Sir Jee?! (like a zillion times, a mark of respect?) men
-"Meri Knowledge mein nahi hai" (HUH? for like everything!)men
-"Please take care karna" women
-"bohat oblige kiya apne" both men and women
-"Aaj outing par jayain gai" both men and women
-"woh wood key curtains hothay hain na" ( apparently trying to explain 'wicker chiks!)
women
-"aap to bohat smart hain" women (to the next whale)
-"Sandwich kar layein gaye" men and women
-"muhje itna depression hota hai" women
-"itna handsome aur piyara hai na" women! usually referring to humsafar's Ashar
-"fighting maat karo" women to children!
-"go, car mein" women to children
-"itni heat hai na" women!
:)
