Are we mentally impaired as a nation? Are we regressive and deficient in normal IQ standards? In every public action there exists a glaring manifestation of our provincial minds and our limited thinking. Take our local TV channels, of which we have plethora - on this eid day I have decided to watch a few hours of TV to understand and get in touch with the national vibe, and what do I witness? A series of inane boring programs one after the other, I have just seen a bit of this most constipated host interviewing a man on the footpath, a homeless man that is, about how he spent his eid! I mean what the bloody heck? What is he trying to tell us? that by comparison we are very lucky to have what we have, or highlighting a social ill? In both the cases it is highly embarrassing. We cannot make the miseries of others a medium of entertainment for the the masses! and we can hardly learn to be grateful or rush out to help on being brought such images in our living rooms - It serves no purpose, except take some air-time and somewhere some stupid director of a channel congratulating himself at showing reality as it is.
Our humor is as pathetic if not more. The effort at being funny is even sadder. We have crude jokes, loud, bawdy attempts at slapstick comedy that is far from funny! Then we have endless line of interviews!!! every one who is anyone has been interviewed to death on one channel or another. And these interviews are to avoided at all costs, the hosts asking most personal and intimate questions with a casual air.
Why are we so unoriginal? Why do we have no ingenuity? why in addition to being a ugly nation we are pathetically boring as well!
