Mrs. Firdous Ashiq Awan..................

The of name of our hefty information minister of state is quite telling - Firdous is Jannat or Paradise literally the garden of Eden in Farsi and Ashiq (probably her last name means lover (besotted) in Urdu. Awan is a caste in Punjab. Hmmmmm, so we have a paradisaical bird (of the pterodactyl kind,) immersed in maddening love and yet again very very earthy in announcing her class origins, for a mouth piece of our purest of Pakistan. A strange twist of fate, for fate will always laugh at you when you forget to laugh at yourself.

Ms.or Mrs. Awan is a notorious fighter with words, she is the third information minister of this government coming at the heels of Sherry Rehman and Kaira, I am wondering what exactly is she chosen for to speak on behalf of the government or rather take up a posture (usually wrong and weak and false) on government's behalf. Her only qualification is the wonderful 'gift of the gab' (the Pakistani kind) and a precarious reputation of being a 'lota' (turncoat) for I believe she won the parliamentary seat on PML-Q ticket (so there you go!)

The not so honorable Ms. Awan can be seen on You-Tube, attacking Ms. Kashmala Tariq on a TV talk show and literally libeling her by stating that the latter belongs to the infamous 'Red-light' area of Lahore and has slept her way into the parliament! and that too on her face!!!! HUH? is Ms. Awan delirious? is she deranged? and now being the minister of information aware of the libel act? and how one cannot defame any person in any manner especially attacking their personal conduct. I saw the said video the other day a few time over and was amused at the get-up and the body language of Ms. Awan along with her atrocious screaming regardless of who was talking and saying what? Time and again Ms. Tariq admonishes her on this aspect and appeals to the host for giving her a fair chance to speak also, but hell hath no fury that day! for Ms. Awan would not stop! she went on like a roller coaster gone wild and was screaming away without any regard to decorum! Moreover, she sat at an angle, as if she wanted not to make eye-contact with the other participants - Ms. Tariq and Ms. Shireen Mazari, her way of sitting sort of cut them off from her line of vision and she seemed perched on her chair as though she is hardly wanting to be there and will get up and go any minute! as if she has already made up her mind to disagree, no as if she is upset with the others ??? huh???? whatever for?

She gives the impression of an uneducated provincial woman who'd fight at the slightest pretext real and imagined and loves to indulge in verbal brawls with other women! I'm sorry but Ms. Jannat here gave very strong vibes of belonging to the Diamond market of Lahore herself, but then that is an insult to the ladies of that place as well, for in my estimation they are far more dignified and are not out on public forums indulging in fist fights!

If the garden of Eden is in anyway like her namesake, then God please take me to hell below, for I have no stomach for these women of covered heads and self-righteousness when all is pointing in the opposite direction. I'd rather wile my time in the hell fire than be in company and, god save me, sight of such frenzied souls of heaven. And is she a lover? an Ashiq? a being who is in touch with his soul and essence and is so in love and intoxicated with a deep love for his beloved that all the material and tangible seems irrelevant, lover is another word for a higher soul, is our very substantial Ms. Awan any which way like that??
