A concise list of words I hate

priority - as in have your priorities right or whats your no.1 priority?

what exactly does this import? of course, assuming you are half human you would and should know what is important to you, its instinctive, isn't it? so why sit back and think and list and ask oneself? I mean if you are that clueless and lost then might as well skip this step altogther!

dude - ufff my son has forgotten calling me Mama, every sentence of his is punctuated by this atrocious sounding epithet.

its such an unimaginative sounding word! dude?? sounds so deadbeat and is always said with a hint of a question mark or an exclamation at the end of it. I'v had heard enough of it to last me the rest of my life, and have duly and in a high pitched tone admonished my son never to address me thus.

bitch - as referring to a woman!

I mean why use this ugly sounding word to address a woman? It reveals the character of the person using it more so than of the woman thus addressed or called. It speaks volumes on male chauvinism at its worst and when flung hither by women to attack others of their own sex it reeks of haterd beyond hate, a kind of revulsion that is to be reserved for people of the slimeist kind.

feedback - why?? it sounds like a word shoudn't, feeding in reverse.

Its an awful sounding word and the connotations being however professional aren't just right so please ditch it!!!

damage control - ???? its an oxymoron if there ever was one?? what do u mean?

It assumes too much! not the least, the fact that you have a right to damage in the first place, and, the sheer audacity to claim thus falsely that you care about controlling its impact!!!!!! It smacks of imperialism! and the white man's burden
which is so last century.

Financial crunch - sounds utterly painful yeeeeee! like a torture device from the dark ages! what does it imply??? and why?

Every time I open a newspaper this phrase jumps at me from one part or the other! we were having a financial crunch, or will face one, or need one! something of the sort. It is one of those words that vacuous as they are, they are used merely for the sake of their high sounding effect when in reality they are totally empty

media - uff one abused word in Urdu and in English.

We are constantly bombarded with statements, condemnations, accusations, praise what have you about this "Media" in Pakistan as if its one single person and that too totally whimsical .Have you ever heard of 'the media; being discussed by the so called experts on Pakistani TV channels?? ya thats what i mean. you come to hate the bloody word and the people of the media.

Failed state - huh? is Pakistan one or not?

what does that mean? that a country has a certain test which it must 'pass' before it can be called a state? who decides whether we are a failed or passed state? how stupid and black and white this description is.

Get over it - how, what, when???

whenever one has gone through a rough patch in life the advise brigade will come up with this phrase at the rate of thousand time per hour. How do u get over being hurt by someone? your feelings of depression, of anger, of disappointment aren't dikes that you can jump over at will. It smacks of impatience on the part of the adviser, a kind of an admonishment to stop feeling what one is feeling and feel what he is being asked to feel! is that even possible?

strong - as in 'you're such a strong person'

huh??? like how? strong as in Samson or Superman. Is it something that comes about if you're alive after a harrowing experience or is it something you must learn to battle life's absurdities? What is it to be strong? not cry? get up and carry on with living no matter what happens? is it the same for everyone or does it depend from person to person! i hate the generality
