An Open Letter to Mr.Kerry

Subject: Strange Case of Mr.Raymond Davis 01/27/11

Sir,

In keeping with famed eastern traditions of hospitality, I welcome you to Pakistan on behalf of all the citizens. I also hope your visit is enlightening and informing, that it fosters an understanding of the tremendous problems faced by our country both internally in form of radicalism and externally in form of strategic issues.

You have maintained a tough position on Pakistan in the past, the most visible stance being the infamous KERRY LUGER BILL that came to be hated here. I respect your position. But, if you will indulge me a bit, as I am deeply perplexed as to the purpose of your current visit, being a simpleton, no a goofy like most of my country men. Why at the time when your government is avoiding the awaited tripartite talks do you choose to visit us poor people, who are always ignored on high flying itineraries usually when more important neighboring countries are visited. Then, suddenly why this surprise and yes most pleasant pleasure? This manna from heaven??

I'm very sure as you have categorically stated that you are not here to negotiate a release for Mr. Raymond Davis- most respected and highly honorable gentleman- who is somehow being embroiled in a mess. It is a nuisance isnt isn't it? Now, we are all aware that all American citizens, are honest, most humble, respect the law, have no double standards, are only doing welfare work in Pakistan, innocent regarding crimes of omission and commission in the past, present and future. We are also aware of the fact that Americans are superior, in their intelligence than all the dark skinned people who populate this most populous of countries, their life and liberty is very important and can in no way be measured in terms of lives of the poor miserable citizens of this miserable country.

I have my heart felt sympathies to you and your country men, how dare the clean and honorable Mr. Davis who only and only when he was being hounded by the two very scary looking killers, who had followed him with such zeal that they actually passed him by, and who had or rather were thinking of shooting at him, had in pure self defence and with a very heavy heart shot them with the clear intention of wounding them, and afterwards had jumped out of the car to take them to the nearest hospital. He, such a man should be charged with murder??? ufffff! total frustration on your part! Pakistanis just don't get it? Here Mr.Davis is risking his life working in this 3rd or 4th or whatever no. most dangerous country in the world, he is carrying maps and other intelligence which should not be carried by him, only to help these ungrateful swines and guess what they come up and accuse him of murder??! Jesus Christ! I'm fuming, so I can totally empathize with you. These 180 million and growing every minute people what do they know of the value of life? and that too of a precious American life. If two or was it three were killed in this strange and bizarre episode too bad but then that's a blessing, remember Malthus? the English guy and the check on uncontrolled population growth. Well things happen, so why make such a hoo ha out of it and go on to ruin this lovely relationship of mutual understanding that both the countries have with each other.

Why and how in the world could you think that we would accuse you of coming to dictate us? Please, do dictate, and please slap our wrist while you are at it and remind us of how stupid we are. How dare we arrest and question an American? no matter how dubious and inexplicable his presence in Pakistan is, how dare we arrest him and put him to trial??? Unbelievable

I humbly apologize to you on behalf of all the people of this unfortunate country for transgressing and presuming for a minute that we have some sovereignty when we actually possess none. Mr. Davis, not only should be set free, we must apologize to him for mistreating him, we must pay penance for putting him through such trying and horrendous mental stress. I feel so sorry for him and the way he refuses to engage with the lowly of the interrogators, I mean the guts of these policemen!, the audacity of the courts!! What do they think? Don't they know who is the BOSS of them.

with due apologies for being a Pakistani,
and for thinking for a minute that we are equal to the mighty Americans.

  1. Dear Lubna,
Thank you for your comment. It is good to know what is on the other side of the coin. I only wish that more Americans would take a look at your letter and use some self reflection. Most Americans are totally clueless what happens in the other countries. They only see and hear the news that are politically and intellectually corrupt. If a Pakistani had shot someone in the USA, he would be treated worse. He would be treated as a terrorist...
