To be honest, we do have quite a few characters on our national scene that may qualify for the title but for the last couple of weeks Zulfiqar Mirza, of Sindh Home Minister and husband of the the Speaker fame is certainly a winner!
And, lest you think that he is a 'winner' in the positive sense of the term, I beg your pardon, because there is nothing positive about public emotional outbursts, maligning others, making Islam and the holy Quran into a tool of proving one's veracity of claims, (simply because no one in their sane mind would believe you otherwise,) and belittling your erstwhile colleagues and leaders of the country. Now, I am no admirer of our political personalities that are there for all reasons except for the ones they ought to have, I am wary of all people with political ambitions in this country for it generally translates into self-serving campaign that has nothing to do with the country and its needs and good.
Mr, Mirza who was forced into exile (euphemistically termed as medical leave) and had been packed off to London at the behest of MQM a few months back is back in town and is literally sizzling! He went on a rampage at a press-conference in Karachi the day the law enforcement agencies were carrying on an operation in his strong hold of Lyari. Now it doesn't take genius to put two an two together and figure out a definite motive for the diatribe against the federal Interior Minister, not that he doesn't deserve it, but guess what? we have proven again and again how stupid we are as people, as a public - for the minute this hag went on the cameras with his mud-slinging a la Indian movie style, and started to swear on the Quran, the general public became smitten by him?! and people at every street corner were praising him for being blunt and honest!!!!! I could not believe this myself! are we that gullible? are we really so stupid? or are we so suppressed that any time a person gets up and says an unutterable but accepted truth in public we rally behind him and start calling him a hero disregarding his own person and acts!
Do we as people and especially karachites, have such flawed and short term memories? that we have in a course of two months forgotten what this maverick crazed man said about different ethnic groups in Karachi and his racially inspired words had unleashed a war in the city, have we forgotten his 'protection' given to the under-world gangs of Lyari in the guise of The People's AMAN Committee that even the PPP denied having anything to do with. The AMAN committee is just a front for racketeering, kidnapping, drug dealing and all the gang wars that take place in Karachi between them and the armed faction of MQM have nothing to do with the rights of any ethnic group, but everything to do with control of areas and MONEY!
But, here we were all praising this mad man saying " kahe to sahi raha hai," and "akar baray guts hein is mein" or "good! MQM to fit kar diya" or " acha hai Rehman Malik to hai hey jhoota aur makaar." Probably all true comments, but do we need to hear and endorse a condoner of illegal groups who carry on murders to tell us all this? If Rehman Malick is unable to control the killings of Karachi we need not have to hear it from another loser from his own political party who had miserably failed to do his job doing exactly that - but then this kind of reasoning requires an IQ level of at least a 7 year old and of course we know for a fact that, most people in this greatest of countries do not grow beyond having one of say 2 or 3 year old's!
We should be reminded at this point of time, that the Holy Quran is not to be abused in such ways and by such people (liars themselves.) And I fail to understand why didn't any maulvi or a learned scholar of Islam object to this kind of abuse, why must we raise and shake the words of god to attest our truthfulness? and how can the Quran, a way of life attest anything? I'd like to know why such acts are not considered blasphemous? In a country where one is surrounded by draconian laws concerning religion this act is neither condemned nor considered blasphemous? In fact I heard many people applaud this recognized criminal and double dealer doing this very thing!!!!
UFFFFFFFFFFFFFF! We can not be saved ever! I rest my case!
