AAhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Friends again!

yup!

The PPP and MQM have made it up, yet again, after creating mayhem in Karachi.........UFFFF I hate the idea of being daggers drawn one day and then all smiles over tea the next day with promises of Ministries and so on! What do these political parties and their leadership (doubtful) take the people of Karachi for? what is it that they seem not to get? That we are mere bystanders? that we can be killed, fired at, pitched against each other at the whims of these low-lifes that pass for leaders? The question that ought to be asked at this point is: Do we get it??? these shenanigans of the political parties will not end, they will keep loving and then hating each other every six months, and we will be at their mercy absolutely. We can hope for lesser violence when MQM is in the government, but complete abatement of killing hasn't happened then also. We can be wary in times of their "Fight": the PPP and the MQM, and hold our breath in case the glass breaks and all hell is set loose - we are asked to prepare for civil-war! and hell we must take that in all earnestness.

This musical chairs played by the so called stake-holders in Karachi is literally and figuratively making me nauseous! I am actually light-headed now for I'm totally lost - as to the status-quo at the present time. If MQM and PPP are together in the government in the province then where does that leave MQM (haqiqi) which the PPP was befriending - till yesterday - come hell or high water! Talk about fickleness! And if MQM was being side-lined till few hours back and Sunni-Tehreek and ANP cajoled as important representatives of Sindh then what's their place today???

While this 'blow hot - blow cold' diplomacy is doing the rounds, more and more people are being slain without the government having the minutest clue as to the motive of the killings! And, being absolutely impotent as far as stopping them is concerned.

So, we have the same ground realities which are - huge and uncontrolled weaponization of different factions in the city. In fact, almost every other person is touting automatic weapons that may serve no other purpose but to kill, and kill ruthlessly. There are different warring groups with daggers drawn against each other killing and targeting the members of the rival faction. Every day, without fail, motor-cycle riders come holding deadly weapons and kill people wherever they are, like in a shop or a cafe or outside their homes and so on and just disappear without a trace. And of course, without fail our police is speechless! has no idea who hit whom and is endlessly trying to apprehend the killers and will keep doing so way into the future....

My argument here is - whether MQM is in bed with PPP in Sindh and in the Center, whether Altaf Hussain is loving Asif Zardari or hating Zulfiqar Mirza, I want, and I'm positive, we all want to see our city return to peace and normalcy. We are least concerned about who holds which ministry and who visits 90, or Bilawal House, or who flies to London for a tete' a tete' with the Quaid, or who is summoned to Isloo to be straightened, or who is sent on forced leave or made to apologize for making unforgivable comments! Our concern is very limited, highly myopic and thoroughly self-centered. We, the battered citizens of Karachi only want to see an end to this senseless killings that have become the norm these days and breathe freely in our home town. The rest are details.

Let Altaf Hussain lord over Orangi Township and ANP call the shots in Kati pahari who cares? as long as they agree to disagree and live in peace without resorting to killing and torture. Let, Mr, Zulfiqar Mirza have his Amn-committee in Lyari and sunni tehreeek its madarsas but and it is a huge but! There can be no tolerance for gung-ho mafia kind of gang-wars and controlling of criminal gangs running the underworld of the city. This money making machine would (sadly) will have to be given up by all the parties - and hell there isn't one who isn't reaping illegal benefits from the underground operations of most sordid kind at the moment in this city! So everyone will and must give up their share of the cake and move back - retreat - give up this murderous game played out at all times - for let's be very clear about one fact - all these wars being fought in Karachi are for money and influence - they have nothing to do with fighting for the rights of this ethnic group or that and the sooner we get it the sooner we will be able to put a stop at us being made pawns in the hands of these malicious players!
