1.Because to be anything less would be a clear and present danger to the sanctity of womanhood.
2.Because being polite gets you nothing and no-where in this purest of lands. If you are overly subtle, people take you for an idiotic silly bimbo! so the ruder you are the more seriously you'll be taken. ( but for inverse logic!)
3.To keep husbands, would-be husbands, lovers, would-be lovers and wished for lovers and husband in line, of course the logic can be fully reversed! for keeping ex-husbands and ex-lovers in line as well.
4.For the role of a 'door-mat' and a classic 'push-over' is so 19th century. So to keep up with the times, to be assertive, to be heard and to be taken seriously!
