An ETHNIC war?

The Karachi problem is taking on a desperate situation, as the day of the 'peaceful protest' announced by MQM is getting older 26 more people have been slain raising the toll of the dead to 90 in three days. Karachi is not having a gang war as it seemed or rather started as one, it is in the grip of horrendous 'ethnic violence' between pathans ad the mohajirs. The pathans, it is rumored across the city, are beating the Urdu speaking people mercilessly and have the silent and tacit backing of the PPP (the ruling party, of course the ANP their own national party which has a strong support system in the city, the Sindhi Nationalist parties, and the police.) It is targeted ethnic cleansing against the Urdu speaking - the word on the street is - MQM is being pounded badly!

Are we all gone mad? Whether a person is a pathan, mohajir, punjabi or sindhi what difference does it make? Is it any biological aspect that makes one against the other, or makes one better than the other? Why are we turning on each other? Why has 'man become a wolf to other men?' It is not only shameful, but painful when half the city is watching the other half being mauled and battered and all the while the civil administration is sitting quite on the fence watching the show?

Please, have some sense, why are we all playing into the hands of these political parties and self-serving leaders who are driving people (innocent) to turn their guns on their fellow country men? The infamous Mr. Zulfiqar Mirza, the Home Minister of Sindh who was sidelined and sent on leave at the demand of the erstwhile coalition partner MQM, is also said to be coming back to the burning city! God help us all if that hooligan is allowed to return and take charge of the city once more, his enticing remarks, his one sided governance that favored groups over the MQM will further escalate the gruesome conditions and put people against each other.

I ask where is the ARMY when we need them? Perhaps busy baking cookies, or churning out cereal or maybe building houses on contract? We need the presence of the army in the city ASAP! General Kiyani "are you conversant and in touch with the ground reality in Karachi?" Chief Justice, "you are quick to take sou-moto notice over everything under the sun, how about noticing Karachi?" NO, there is silence from all quarters! For this is a preplanned killings of the people of Karachi. The roads are quite, the people huddled inside their homes, too scared to venture out and the killers having a field day killing all and sundry.

People are leaving their homes in troubled areas and moving to safer enclaves in the city. And the wisdom of the government in calling the Frontier Constabulary which is predominantly a pathan force to enforce law and order beats everything - the President and Prime Minister and the Interior Minister ought to be arrested and put behind bars and tried for "war crimes" as gruesome as in world war days against the Jewish people and in recent times, the crimes against Muslims in Bosnia by the Serbs!
