Cannibals?

Two diseased brothers in an obscure town in Punjab are accused, and, have confessed eating dead humans. They have also revealed the revolting fact of killing and eating their own sister and children. They state that after eating their murdered sister they became addicted to 'human flesh' and went on stealing bodies from the graveyards to support their habit.



What? I had to read this story a couple of times to actually register the gruesome facts of the case. Is it actually possible? seems like it is. What drives a person to such a loathsome act? What is the mental state and thoughts of such a person? Of course he isn't completely insane, if one takes that plea, because of the planning and careful manipulation is required for doing this.

In my opinion, the two brothers are of sane minds, they are not 'sick', but 'evil'. they have crossed the line of what is permissible or doable to do acts that defy one's logic. Serial killers have in the past indulged in such outrageous behavior after abusing and killing their victims, the main act is of 'killing' which probably gives them a sense of power over the hapless victims. Here, the circumstances are weird the two accused have confessed to hauling bodies out of the graveyard (of course freshly buried ones) simply to eat them! as they had become 'addicted' to human meat? this simply means that they liked to eat the flesh of fellow humans and robbed the graveyards to their satisfy their cravings!!

One can understand cravings for sugary food or tea or even contrabands such as alcohol and drugs, but this bizarre liking and desperately wanting something so forbidden as humans is beyond imagination. We have fantastical stories like this off and on in the papers and tv, remember the case of an unemployed man killing his own four children! we are now more or less become used to men killing women because they have supposedly 'dishonored' them!, then we have little girls being married off to men the age of their great grandfathers, and now this the vilest of all crimes!

But, think about it, is this a cover up for a large ring of 'body snatchers' who rob graves to take out vitaal organs to sell them at very high prices? because it defies logic? why have the whole body at your home when you need only the flesh to eat? is this story a ruse to get them out on 'insanity' verdict? Don't have a clue, but whatever it is - the thought itself is sickening.
